The 5 Perfect Places to escape to this Christmas

While we love nothing more than chilling in a onesie cupping a hot chocolate and chatting with the family, sometimes it’s nice to completely get away for Christmas.

Whether you’re planning a shopping trip, a few days away before New Years or even spending Christmas itself away then these are the top places for you.

1. New York

Christmas at Rockefeller Center, 2008

This is the city that ticks all the boxes when it comes to Christmas.

It’s pretty much guaranteed to snow, it’s the perfect shopping destination and there’s lots of cool places to spend Christmas day itself.

One place you have to visit during the festive season is the Rockefeller Centre – which is transformed into a huge ice rink in front of the infamous Christmas tree.

Grab a hot chocolate and stroll through Central Park (wrapped up in a scarf, hat and gloves of course) and you’ll be smack bang in the middle of a Christmas movie.

2. London

Another great city to spend the holidays is London.

It’s a much quicker flight but the festivities are just as good.

The major attraction the last few years has been London’s Winter Wonderland which takes place in Hyde Park.

From ice-skating, their Ice Kingdom (it’s really REALLY cold) to their Circus Show, you can also taste the best of their Christmas markets with influences from all over the world.

3. Malta

If you’re not into the freezing cold, red nose weather then why not go straight to the sunshine?

I visited Malta for the first time this year and completely fell in love. While I was there I was told a lot of people head their for Christmas time and I can see why.

With temperatures during the festive season as high as 20 degrees there are so many things to do while you’re there – including relaxing with a glass of red and listening to the sounds of the ocean.

4. Dubai

Sticking with sunny places Dubai is a perfect place to celebrate Christmas.

Picture spending your day on a yacht in the Marina with Christmas dinner being served right up to.

And if you still want a taste of Christmas then head off ski-ing in the man-built in slope in the Mall of the Emirates which is all Alpine themed.

You can also go ice-skating in the Dubai Mall, which also brings a touch of Vegas with their famous fountain show.

But if you want to skip all things festive then head out to the desert and go camel riding, you can watch the sun go down and enjoy dune bashing too.

Or do what I did and go swimming with Dolphins in the Atlantis Hotel (helped me through my bucket list).

5. Dingle

Last but certainly not least…

Definitely one of the most beautiful places in the country, why not get a hideaway in Dingle?

You can rent cottages throughout the Christmas season, including Christmas week itself.

You may face high winds and outages, but just light a few candles, wrap up to your loved one and you’ll be grand.
