The girls are back in town! RTE's ladies lead the way in radio ratings

It’s a hugely successful day for the ladies in RTE Radio today.

While the news of Ryan Tubridy moving to RTE Radio 1 dominated the news today, JNLR figures released have shown the women in RTE are doing the best.

Miriam O’Callaghan’s radio show has increased by a whopping 21,000 listeners, while Claire Byrne has enjoyed an increase of 10,000 and Marian Finucane has seen her listeners grow from 7,000 on Saturday and 2,000 on Sunday.

Louise McSharry’s night time show has also seen an increase, along with Lottie Ryan’s weekend Breakfast Show going up by 10,000.

And the men aren’t doing too bad either.

Ray D’Arcy’s new RTE Radio 1 show is already up 7,000 in the first released figures since taking over Derek Mooney.

While Ryan Tubridy’s morning slot went up by 2,000 and Breakfast Republic also increased by 10,000.

Although the Colm Hayes drivetime show is down by 4,000, presenter Eoghan McDermott will be taking over that slot in September.

“It’s one of those great days in RTE radio where everyone programme is up in 2FM and Radio 1 except for Colm Hayes,” a spokeswoman said.

“It’s been a phenomenal day, we are thrilled. It’s been a hard slog to get here but we’re very happy to be here,” she added.

Meanwhile it’s been exactly two years to this exact day that Pat Kenny left RTE for Newstalk and his listenership has gone down by 8,000 while competitor Sean O’Rourke is up by 14,000.
