Shane Richie hopes Irish Kat and Alfie spin-off will be made permanent

Shane Richie has revealed that he would love for the upcoming Kat and Alfie Moon spin-off to be made more permanent.

The Eastenders actor and his co-star Jessie Wallace will take on their own six-part series later this year, and with the storyline set in Ireland – Shane hopes he could make a more permanent move in the future.

“At the moment we are committed to one series, and like anything if it does well, we’d like to think it will be ongoing,” he said.

The show, which is working under the title Redwater, will be set in Ireland after Kat and Alfie decide to move here to find Kat’s long-lost son.

Shane admitted that with the storyline he’s heard for the future of the show, he would be incredibly surprised if it doesn’t last more than one season.

“With the storylines we’ve heard, I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t a long runner. That’s the plan,” he told the Daily Record.

“Kat and Alfie have set up in Ireland and will they stay there? I’d love to think I would spend three or four months of the year filming in Ireland and going out there with my family.”
