Shane Filan: 'I would love to perform on X Factor'

Shane Filan has revealed that he would love to get the opportunity to perform on ITV’s The X Factor this year, if they’d have him of course.

The Irish singer has just released his second solo album Right Here, and it seems he is hoping to get a call from Simon Cowell himself to invite him to perform on one of The X Factor’s live shows.

“It’d be nice to hear from Simon. Westlife were on The X Factor loads of times over the years, but we were one of the biggest bands around,” he said.

“But I’m just a solo artist starting out now, if you get the biggest song in the world then you’ll get on The X Factor but if you don’t, you won’t, because you’re competing against some of the biggest acts in the world,” he told Bang Showbiz.

Although Shane hopes to wow The X Factor audience this year, he is remaining realistic about his career prospects.

“I’d love to get on this year but I’m very realistic about where I am at in my solo career and I’m building this again and it takes time and great songs.

“I feel I have a couple of great songs on this album so we’ll see where it ends up in the next couple of months,” he added.

The Sligo native also admitted that he isn’t picky about what platform he is given to showcase his new music, and that he would also love to perform on The X Factor’s rival show Strictly Come Dancing.

“Strictly is the same as X Factor they’re both massive TV shows, I’d love to get on that but you’re competing with so many artists.”

“Look, if I get on either of those shows then I’ll know my album is really working,” he said.
