Róisín O: 'I get hate online from people who don't like my mum or brother'

Róisín O has revealed that she has been subject to some online hate from people who don’t like her mum or brother.

Known as one of Ireland’s most musical families, Róisín is the daughter of legendary singer Mary Black and sister to The Coronas frontman Danny O’Reilly – but her famous family hasn’t always worked in her favour.

“I think everyone gets online hate.

“Some people don’t like The Coronas or they don’t like Mary Black, so then they assume they won’t like me and they would make a comment,” she admitted.

“There’s an undercurrent of that sometimes.”

The songstress just released her incredible music video for her new single Give It Up, which was all shot in one take, and admitted that she received some nasty comments on her appearance in the video – but she tries to ignore the haters.

“I try not to take it too personally,” she told the Herald.

“When I put up my video the other day on YouTube, someone was saying how they didn’t like my nose ring.

“I don’t know why you would bother. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.

“However, most people have been really supportive.”

The brunette also revealed that she’d rather not be the star of her own music videos, and that she’s much more comfortable on the stage.

“I always feel awkward.

“I’d prefer it not to be centred on me. I’m more comfortable on stage,” she added.
