There has been so much talk about Pippa O’Connor’s very first beauty product – that I had to find out for myself what all the fuss was about.
Pippa teased us all for ages about the news that she would be launching something in the realm of beauty alongside Blank Canvas and nobody expected the Pippa Palette – and I don’t think anybody expected it to sell out either.
But it has and now I completely understand why.
Everyone is obsessed with the Urban Decay Naked palette, and while it is a fantastic purchase for getting the perfect eye look, it can be a pricey expense – Pippa’s palette is more reasonable and it’s the perfect product for your hand bag.
Very cute: I loved the packaging of the product | SORCHA CRILLY
Firstly the packaging is seriously cute and girly – and yes being pink makes a difference and yes I’m a girl so I fell for the whole aesthics of the product straight away.
Let’s talk about the actual eyeshadows and powders though.
I am a huge fan of the smokey eye and honestly sometimes I can’t even get makeup artists to do it right, so the thought of having the perfect smokey eye in a palette genuinely excited me.
Stripped back: I popped on the basics before trying out the palette
So I took all my makeup off and started from the (very, very bare) beginning.
I stuck to my most recent base regime – which includes Rimmel Hide the Blemish Concealer in Ivory 001 and Rimmel Stay Matte mousse foundation in Classic Beige 201.
The first thing I did was put on some of the Lily – which is a light cream colour and what I used for the perfect base to build up my smokey eye.
Then it was on to Ollie – which honestly is probably my favourite colour for the lid. It’s really natural and really soft and you can blend and build it up to make the colour more intense.
Base: I started with Ollie and blended with Tobi
Since I was testing the palette I mixed and matched lots of different shadows, next up I blended in some Tobi – another big favourite of mine.
I have green eyes so the red tones in Tobi really bring out the intensity of my eye colour and can create a dramatic effect quite quickly.
After putting Tobi on my lid I went straight for the Dodo for under my eye – I am obsessed with shadows under the eye, honestly I put more shadow there than on my lid.
Once I had enough Dodo built up underneath I put a light layer on my lash line to darken the bottom of my lid.
Powders: I tried the bronzer and blusher tones too
Moving from the shadows I got out my bronzer brush and used some of the Amour on my cheek bones – I really love this powder and the colour reminds me of the Benefit Hoola bronzer, which was always a favourite of mine.
I’m not a huge fan of blusher so I used only a teeny-tiny amount of the Pipsy to lighten up my cheeks.
Add some eyeliner (Lancome Le Crayon Kohl 01 Noir) and some mascara (MaxFactor False Lash Effect) and hey presto my perfect smokey eye was complete.
A quick outfit change (into pink of course) and I was ready for a night of events.
Smokey eye complete: I loved the Pippa Palette
Using the Pipa Palette was quick and easy and most importantly I felt the quality of each shadow and powder was on point.
It’s easy for a celebrity to put their name to a product – but with this you can tell Pippa was really involved.
The only complaint I’ve heard and the only thing I would say myself is that the shadows are a tad small – and you could do with a little more.
But saying that for the price and the quality of the product you get more than enough for your money.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised and it’s a must-have in my handbag every single day now.
