Return of the Jedi! Star Wars set for return to Ireland to film sequel next year

The Star Wars production team may have only left Ireland but they have revealed plans to return to Skellig Michael to film another flick.

Lucasfilm are reportedly interested in returning to Kerry in 2016 for the sequel to Star Wars: The Awakening.

“Much of the appeal of the location comes from its stark, Spartan beauty and it’s ancient, mystical ambiance,” a document read.

The reports were written in a Department of Arts and Heritage document before a meeting with the Star Wars production team.

According to the Herald, filming of the upcoming Star Wars sequels will be scaled down for shooting in 2016.

“To a scale where no adverse effects arise,” the document read.

Meanwhile, Star Wars actor Mark Hamill helped pull pints in a pub in Portmagee.
