Jules Coll launched her new book Flabyrinth: My Escape From Maximum Insecurity Prison at House Dublin on Leeson St last week.

The co-writer and producer of RTÉ 2’s comedy TV show Damo & Ivor was joined by the show’s creator Andy Quirke as well as close family and friends, including actor Enda Oates.

Guests sipped on the Flabyrinth Cocktail’, a delicious cava rosé served in a martini glass, as Jules’ personal trainer Matt Keatley officially launched the book.

Her trainer paid tribute to the hard work Jules put in to shedding over 9 stone since her gastric-bypass surgery last year, and going on to write a book sharing her story.

Best known for her part in Damo & Ivor, and appearing on RTÉ in her documentary Nine Stones Lighter – Jules’ book is said to be funny, filthy and uplifting as we discover that Jules’ weight loss was just the beginning of her journey to self-acceptance.

Fun-loving Jules tells readers about her ‘inner bad bitch’ Siobhán, the voice in her head that constantly told her that she wasn’t good enough, as she hilariously tells stories from her childhood all the way to adulthood – when it finally dawned on her that she must silence Siobhán and give up her unattainable dreams of perfection.

Jules’ book is said to be for every girl who’s ever looked in the mirror and felt crap, and is a hilariously, refreshing and honest take on what it feels like to be a girl.

RTÉ star and funny woman Jennifer Zamparelli said, “Get out of my head Jules! An unapologetic, brutally honest read with a few giggles along the way …loved it.”
