Over 100 Ed Sheeran competition winners left disappointed as they're told they can't get into VH1 gig

Over 100 Ed Sheeran fans were left extremely unhappy when they were turned away from his Dublin VH1 gig.

400 fans were selected to attend the intimate concert in Dublin venue Whelan’s but over 100 people were told they could no longer go inside.

Some competition winners were told that their tickets were gone and that it was actually a ‘first come, first served’ entry.

Angry fans took to Whelan’s Facebook insisting they had no idea they needed to be at the venue earlier than stated.

Angry: Over 100 fans were turned away this evening

“I had emailed Whelans during the week, and they said I just had to be there between 3-7pm, nothing about first come first served,” one fan wrote.

“What are you going to do to compensate all those who won Ed Sheeran tickets only to be told they over sold ! That’s very bad for considering some traveled as fare as Donegal and booked into Hotels,” another added.

Whelan’s have already made a statement to fans, claiming that it is normal to over sell tickets to performances like this.

“We can understand people’s disappointment at receiving an eTicket for the Ed Sheeran show, then to find there were no spaces left.”

“It is common practice for all TV productions worldwide to oversubscribe as a percentage of people who apply for tickets, simply don’t turn up.

“For those who received an official eTicket, it did state in the terms and conditions that the event would be oversubscribed and that wristband allocation would be served on a first come, first served basis and all subject to availability.

“Anyone that didn’t receive a wristband yesterday were offered the chance to receive guaranteed entrance tickets to another television show in the future.
