Nicky Byrne is about to jet off on his next big adventure – to represent Ireland in the Eurovision.
Heading to Stockholm for the famed song contest, the Dubliner admitted that he’s “nervous” as he hopes to take home the title which hasn’t been won by Ireland since 1996.
“I won’t be afraid of the stage but that doesn’t mean I won’t be nervous,” he told Independent.ie.
“Of course I will. It is the biggest stage around.”

The Dublin native also admitted that he hopes Westlife fans will back him to win, but he knows that at the end of the day – it’s all about the performance.
“I think the Westlife fan base around the world will help a little bit.
“At the end of the day, it is a big competition and that will only take you so far.

If the 2fm host makes it through the first stage of the contest with his song Sunlight – he will perform again at the final on May 14.
