The singer also said that Fleetwood Mac are another big influence to him and the boys, and admitted that there are “plenty” of songs in the music industry that he wishes he had written.

The blonde haired heartthrob reveals that he wishes he wrote The Eagles’ Hotel California and Desperado, as well as John Lennon’s Imagine.

Strangely, he admits to Entertainment Weekly that he wishes he had written The Black Eyed Peas ‘I Got A Feeling’, saying that it was “the song of the summer when I was about 14.”

Bye for now: The boys will go on hiatus next year

Coming up to the bands hiatus next year, Niall opened up about the songs he is most proud of on the album – admitting Never Enough, the song he wrote, as one of his favourites.

“It was kind of a new sound that we had never tried before and I had never really written in that sound, either,” he revealed.

“When you hear the song you’ll know what I mean.

“It’s very different. I was happy with the way we had written it, and the way we came about it,” he stressed.

“We were just on the piano one night in Julian [Bunetta, writer-producer]’s house, and we were sitting around and having a couple of beers and then it just kinda popped up on the piano and it’s now played by trumpets.”

“So, when things like that happen, you feel proud,” he added.

Niall also revealed that Don’t Forget Where You Belong, which he wrote with McFly, is the track he’s most proud of as it’s a favourite at concerts.

“[It] gets a good reaction during [live] shows, and yeah, when I was writing it there was a lot of sentiment behind it,” he smiled.
