Michael Fassbender and Saoirse Ronan to be honoured with International Star Award

Michael Fassbender and Saoirse Ronan are set to be honoured at The Palm Springs International Film Festival with the International Star Award at the festival’s awards gala.

The Irish-German actor and the Brooklyn star will receive the prestigious award on January 2 at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The festival will also honor other Hollywood stars including Cate Blanchett, Johnny Depp, Brie Larson and Tom McCarthy.

In the run up to the awards gala, the Festival’s Chairman Harold Matzner praised Michael’s talents and his “riveting performances”.

“Throughout his career, Michael Fassbender has brought to life riveting performances on the screen in films such as Hunger, Shame, 12 Years A Slave, Inglorious Bastards and Prometheus.

“In his latest film, Steve Jobs, Fassbender delivers another stunning performance of subtlety and power, presenting the Apple co-founder as both a witty and engaging person and a conflicted Machiavellian,” he told Variety.com

Past International Star Award honorees include Javier Bardem and Helen Mirren.

Michael continues his award success with another win over the weekend as he scooped the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Steve Jobs from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

Saoirse also picked up a huge award at the weekend, bagging the Best Actress gong for her role in Brooklyn at the British Independent Film Awards.
