Luck of the Irish! Caitriona Balfe nominated for Golden Globe

Caitriona Balfe has been nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the American-British drama series Outlander.

The Dublin native was given the nod today as the nominees were announced for the 73rd Annual Golden Globes, among other Irish stars.

The 36-year-old is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Drama series, and is up against some big talents.

The IFTA winner will go head to head against Eva Green for Penny Dreadful, which is filmed in Ireland.

Other stars nominated include Viola Davis for How To Get Away With Murder, Taraji P. Henson for Empire and Robin Wright for House of Cards.

In other Golden Globes TV news, Game of Thrones, which is also filmed in Ireland and stars our own Liam Cunningham and Aidan Gillen, is up for the Best Drama Television series.

It will face tough competition against Narcos, Empire and Mr. Robot, as well as Outlander.
