New Republic of Telly host: 'I'm very different to Jennifer Maguire'

Comedienne Joanne McNally has opened up about taking over the reins from Jennifer Maguire on Republic of Telly.

The Dublin stand-up admitted fans of the show shouldn’t expect her to be similar to the 2fm host.

“I’m very different to her but there is no harm in that either. People say they are big shoes to fill and I know this but Jennifer is a size four and I’m a size seven so I think I’ll be ok,” she said.

The funny woman, who swapped her Public Relations job for a career in comedy, revealed her co-host Kevin McGahern has made her feel right at home in RTE.

“I gigged with Kevin a couple of times. He’s so lovely. The Republic of Telly is like starting school,” she told TV Now.

“It’s funny because I left a desk job to pursue a career in comedy and the first thing they showed me is my desk.

“So I’ve got a desk in RTE and I’m like, ‘I’m never going to sit at that,” she laughed.
