Saoirse Ronan has been nominated for yet another major award, but this one is even bigger than ever as its for the Best Female Lead in the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The Irish actress has been praised recently particularly for her role in her latest film Brooklyn, and has won and been nominated for several awards over the past few months.
This is another huge achievement for Saoirse, and it will certainly increase the buzz about her potentially being nominated for an Oscar.

Taking to Twitter, the official SAG Awards account announced all the nominees, and it looks like Saoirse will be up  against Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren, Sarah Silverman and Brie Larson.
The news comes as Saoirse’s former co-star and famed Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg recently told Goss.ie that he would like to see Saoirse nominated for an Oscar.
Meanwhile, Michael Fassbender has received a nod for Best Male Lead for Steve Jobs. The actor is facing ff against Hollywood A-listers Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio and Eddie Redmayne.

Game of Thrones, which is filmed largely in Northern Ireland and also stars our very own Aidan Gillen, is also nominated in two different SAG categories. The entire cast is up for Outstanding Performance by an ensemble in a Drama series, and its also up for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama series.Â
