Irish artist Steven Mannion Farrell enjoyed a star-studded opening for his latest art collection.

“I sell a lot of work to specifically California, even more specifically Hollywood. They adore this colour scheme but they adore the Irishness.”

“I have always been selling to the American market, with whatever connections I’ve had in the states, that’s always helped me out.”

It’s well known that Steven, who is married to Colin Farrell’s brother Eamon, has sold some of his paintings to some big names in Hollywood, but he was coy about naming names.

Fan: Steven’s brother in law Colin loves his work

“I’m sure they wouldn’t mind but there’s a thing about Hollywood they like you more if you don’t say, so I’d prefer not too.”

“They are all sorts of people in the movie industry. So not just actors, actresses and A-listers,” he explained.

However Steven did admit that brother in law Colin Farrell is a big fan of his work.

“Colin does have quite a few pieces of mine. He doesn’t have one from the new collection just yet but he’s great he’s a huge supporter of my work,” he revealed.

While Colin couldn’t make the event, Steven had some actor friends attend the opening.

Love/Hate star Aoibhinn McGinnity headed to the event, the actress looked chic in checkered pants with a long black over coat.

Also out to support Steven on his big night was TV3 star Alan Hughes and husband Karl Broderick.

VIP guests sipped wine and enjoyed Steven’s new collection.

“It took about eight or nine months to put this together. A lot of that was sitting down having coffee and just looking at the paintings.

“The name of this collection is The Land of Heart’s Desire. It’s what Yeat’s called Sligo. I have a huge connection to Sligo.”

“The inspiration for this collection is the work of W.B Yeats and the land of Sligo, the magic and wildness of the Sligo country side,” Steven told Goss.ie.
