Hector Ó hEochagáin to travel back to TG4 with new series

Hector Ó hEochagáin is going back to his roots and returning to TG4 with a new travel series.

The Meath native kick-started his career on the Irish language channel and revealed that he will be returning with a brand new travel series to celebrate their 20th anniversary next year.

“TG4 are 20 years on the go next year. Back in the day we won three or four IFTAS for our travel show of which I am very proud,” he said.

“So I’m putting the [crew] back together, we are going back on the road after 10 years.”

The series sounds a little different to your typical travel show – it will either involve travelling Central America or travelling places around the world that are at the same latitude as Hector’s hometown of Navan.

“We might go to Central America or I might take the latitude of Navan and circumvent the globe.

“So we might call the show Hector Central or Latitude Hector,” he revealed.

Along with his return to TG4, the Gaeilgeoir presenter has been working on some other TV ventures abroad, recently pitching an idea to a British station.

“I can’t say anything at the moment. I’ve been looking on something for a year-and-a-half and hoping to get it off the ground.

“It’s my own idea and I am going abroad with it, so fingers crossed.

“October could be a very important month for us,” he told the Herald.
