Friday's Late Late Show country special was the most watched episode of the YEAR

The Late Late Show enjoyed it’s highest audience this year in last Friday’s episode.

An average of 707,400 viewers tuned in for the show which featured the biggest stars of the Irish country music scene.

Daniel  and Majella O’Donnell, Big Tom and Nathan Carter entertained viewers with the episode attracthing a massive 52 per cent share of the  TV audience.

The Donegal crooner and his wife are enjoying the massive success their UTV Ireland show has brought which recently drew in over 500,000 viewers.

The total audience reached over the course of the episode was an impressive 1.3 million.

“We knew that country is huge when we decided to have this special, so it’s no surprise to us that so many people tuned in on Friday night,” host Ryan Tubridy said.

“It was truly one of the most enjoyable Late Late Show’s I’ve ever presented and the reaction to Big Tom’s appearance, and that very special performance of Four Country Roads, was something to remember.”

The show also featured interviews with rugby coach Joe Schmidt and Brooklyn actress Saoirse Ronan.

The episode has notched up 30,000 streams on RTE Player since Friday and had the highest volume of live streams for any episode this year.
