Finally! Pat Kenny returns to RTE – but it's not what you think

Pat Kenny is returning to RTE – to film his UTV chat show.

The presenter is returning to his former TV home at Montrose base where he spent more than four decades.

The former Late Late Show host returned to TV screens last May with Pat Kenny: In The Round filmed at Dublin’s Mansion House – however, the programme will now be shot at RTE studio 4.

UTV producers are hoping that the new location will be able to attract better guests to the series and the show will look slicker in the studio.

“Filming for the new season of In The Round starts next month and producers have agreed a deal with RTE to film in Studio 4,” a source told The Sun.

“The deal was agreed and signed on Thursday morning — it’s great news because in terms of flexibility, Studio 4 makes a lot more sense.”

“The studio is generally available so if a guest changes or something topical happens and the show needs to be changed last minute, they’ll be able to do so now.”

“Although the Mansion House worked well, there were occasional issues with sound and filming,” the insider added.

TV bosses hope to secure an A-list line-up fr the new series due to the studio’s availability.

“The benefit of the new venue is that it will be more regularly accessible than the Mansion House, which would obviously have other bookings,” the source said.

It’s the first time Pat will be filming in front of a live audience since Frontline was axed in 2013.
