EXCLUSIVE! Kodaline open up on how their music has helped fans

Kodaline have opened up about how their music has helped their fans.

Speaking to Goss.ie at the Diana Award Anti-Bullying launch, Kodaline band members Jason Boland and Steve Garrigan admitted that one of the best parts of making music is hearing from fans that their songs helped them through a tough time.

“That’s one of the most encouraging things, through Twitter and Facebook we do actually get people everyday who can say how our music’s helped them or what it’s helped them get through,” Jason said.

Sadly, the rockers revealed that one of their biggest fans passed away yesterday, and Jason chatted to her brother for hours – showing just how deep the connection to their fans is.

“Yesterday, one of our biggest fans in Belgium passed away and her brother was able to get straight onto us and I was talking to him for about two hours, so we do have a direct connection with our fans.

“It’s very important if someone is going through something, and that we can help them in anyway,” Jason told Goss.ie.

The band’s frontman Steve also admitted that their devoted fans would often wait outside their gigs just to tell them how much their music has affected their lives, describing it as a “pretty amazing feeling”.

“That’s what makes it all worthwhile, you know initially we would write songs for ourselves but the fact that it actually helps people,” Steve said.

“Like a lot of our fans would come up to us before shows and after shows and they’ll wait outside for hours sometimes just to say thank you so much, your song helped me through this.

“It’s a pretty amazing feeling,” he added.
