Ed Sheeran signs Irish singer Foy Vance to his label

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he has signed Irish artist Foy Vance to his record label, Gingerbread Man Records.

The Bangor native previously toured with the flame-haired singer as a supporting act, as well as collaborated on numerous projects together, and it seems he has clearly impressed him.

Ed Sheeran took to Twitter this morning to happily announce the signing, describing Foy as one of his “all time favourite artists and inspirations.”

Foy was previously signed to Glassnote Records, and released his 2013 album Joy of Nothing with them, however he will now join Jamie Lawson, who was the first to be signed to Ed’s label.

Ed has made it known that he’s a fan of Foy’s music as he released a cover of one of his song’s Make It Rain, which he recorded for the second-last episode of US hit series Sons of Anarchy.

As well as that, the Thinking Out Loud singer got a tattoo in Irish with the words, “nuair is gá dom fháil bhaile, is tú mo réált eolais,” which translates as, “when I need to get home, you’re my guiding light.”

The tattooed phrase is taken from one of Foy’s songs Guiding Light which Ed collabed with him on.

A statement was posted to Foy’s website, announcing that he is “ecstatic” with the news and that he is currently recording in Nashville.

“Foy is ecstatic to announce his signing to Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man/Atlantic Records label.

“Recording for his Gingerbread Man debut is underway at the legendary Blackbird Studios (Nashville,TN) with Grammy-winning producer Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Norah Jones, James Bay, Kings of Leon, Of Monsters and Men), and will be due out Spring, 2016.”
