Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson’s sci-fi thriller Ex Machina has been revealed as one of the best film of 2015.
According to US entertainment magazine Variety, the movie, written and directed by Alex Garland, is “a rare piece of contemporary sci-fi filmmaking”.
In its round-up of the best films of 2015 to date, Variety’s Scott Foundas said the thriller features “knockout performances from Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander”.

Speaking about the film, Scott added Ex Machina is: “worthy of mention in the same breath as Blade Runner and The Terminator”.
“Whatever this modestly scaled film lacked in budgetary heft, it more than made up for in sleekly expressive production design, provocative ideas about the fine line between man and machine,” he added.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time the Malahide native has starred with Alicia Vikander as they appeared in 2012’s Anna Karenina.
