Demi Lovato has posted a painful photo of herself, from when she suffered badly from bulimia.
The photo, which she posted on her Instagram story, shows Demi during her struggle with an eating disorder, alongside a current photo of herself looking much healthier.
“Recovery is possible,” she commented.
The 25-year-old has spoken candidly about her personal struggles in her documentary “Simply Complicated” this week, which premiered on YouTube.
Demi admitted, “Food is still the biggest challenge in my life and it controls … I don’t want to give it the power to say it controls my every thought, but it’s something that I’m constantly thinking about.”
The singer revealed that she still has not “conquered” her eating disorder.
The 25-year-old pop star has come a long way, after going to rehab back in 2010 to seek treatment for a dependence on alcohol and drugs.
Demi has been in great spirits after revealing how far she has come to fans, while thanking her loved ones for being there during the tough times.
“Feeling humbled and joyful today. Thank you guys for sticking by my side and believing in me.”
“So many ups and downs. So many times I wanted to relapse but sat on my hands and begged God to relieve the obsession,” she continued.
“I’m so proud of myself but I couldn’t have done it without my higher power (God), my family, friends, and everyone else who supported me.”
