The Lobster features an A-list cast leaded by Colin and including Rachel Weisz, Lea Seydoux, John C Reilly, Ben Whishaw, Olivia Colman and Michael Smiley.

The movie is a love story set in the near future where single people, according to the rules of The City, are arrested and transferred to The Hotel.  There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days.

If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released into The Woods.

A desperate Man escapes from The Hotel to The Woods where The Loners live and falls in love, although it is against their rules.

“We are really pleased with the response of audiences in Ireland and the UK to The  Lobster, whose positive word of mouth has helped propel it into an independent hit,” Element Pictures Distribution’s Andrew Lowe said.

“Element Pictures Distribution have worked closely with our partners in the UK, Picturehouse, to launch the film into a very competitive market on the back of The Lobster’s success in Cannes, and we are delighted to see UK and Irish audiences share the Cannes jury’s enthusiasm for the film.”
