Colin Farrell: 'I gained nearly THREE STONE by drinking pints of ice-cream for movie role'

Colin Farrell has revealed he gained a massive 40 pounds for his movie role in The Lobster by drinking pints of melted ice-cream.

The Dublin native had to ditch healthy living for his role as a lonely singleton in the drama co-starring A-lister Rachel Weisz.

“I would put the ice cream in the microwave to melt and drink it,” he said.

“Two cheeseburders, fries and Coca-Colas, and two slices of chocolate cake at 10am is not that  fun – and I love cheeseburgers.”

The normally svelte actor revealed that the weight gain made him change more than just physically.

“It makes you aware of how you’ve identified being a certain way,” he explained.

However, when Colin finally saw himself on screen at the film’s Cannes premiere, he couldn’t believe his eyes.

“I gasped. I’d forgotten what it looked like,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, the True Detective star commented on the new craze of the dad bod and admitted it’s really just a case of not having the time to exercise.

“A dad bod is a physical manifestation of our sacrifice to our children.”
