Checking out the competition: Oscar nominee Tomm Moore attends Big Hero 6 premiere

Ireland’s biggest names in TV and film braved the plummeting temperatures for the Irish premiere of Oscar nominated Big Hero 6.

The film that follows the story of a plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who develop a special bond, team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes.

Keeping his friends close but his competitor’s closer, Tomm Moore, director of Ireland’s Oscar hope – Song of the Sea, was in attendance.

In high spirits last night, the Kilkenny base director took selfies with his wife Liselott Olofsson, before rubbing shoulders with Big Hero 6’s producer and director.

The two film’s were nominated in the same category last week for an Oscar and will go head to head for Best Animation Feature at February’s prestigious awards.

Also in attendance was TV Presenter Blathnaid Treacy who was feeling the chill as she cosied up to a giant inflatable version of the film’s character.

There with her TwoTube co-host, Stephen Byrne the RTE duo channelled rock chic in skinny jeans and matching leather jackets.

Another Montrose favourite, Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh graced the red carpet wrapping up in long khaki jacket which she accessorised with matching Khaki boots, black woolly hat and blue knitted scarf.

50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy star, Baz Ashmawy also arrived at the première braced for the cold weather wearing a red jacket, black fleece and brown shoes.

The Sky 1 star who is currently presenting The Fanatics, wasn’t alone at the première.

Posting on Twitter the former 2FM DJ said “We’re getting very excited about going to see #disney #bighero6 at the Savoy.”
