Celebs, Music and Festival Style: 8 reasons we can't wait for Electric Picnic

EP

It may be a very chilly March but we can’t help but dreamy of a sunny Electric Picnic this year.

As more and more gigs are being announced for this summer, we’re already getting excited about the pinnacle of our summer soundtrack, Electric Picnic.

Tickets go on sale next Wednesday, and Goss.ie are already counting down the days until we’re eating a kebab and catching some of music’s biggest names in the main arena in Stradbally.

Here’s why we can’t wait for EP 2015:

1. The Kick-Ass Music

Acts at Electric Picnic 2011 Festival: Day 2

From Paolo Nutini to Fatboy Slim to Chic, EP has attracted some of the biggest trailblazers in music.

The calibre of great international acts and homegrown talent is one of the many reasons why we love the festival.

Catering to every music lover’s taste, there has been an infinite amount of amazing highlights but at Goss.ie we have to admit watching Grammy nominated Hozier was a pretty spectacular moment.

2. The VIP.’s

Electric Picnic

Electric Picnic is Ireland’s answer to Glastonbury and is most definitely the place you want to be seen on the last weekend of August.

There are thousands of festival goers in attendance but here’s where you’ll also find Love/Hate star Aidan Gillen and TV host Ryan Tubridy hanging out after their stints in the Mindfield site.

The fun filled festival attracts so many of Ireland’s A-listers from T.V., music, fashion and film.

With VIP festival revellers such as The Voice of Ireland coaches Kian Egan and Bressie, Bono and Rosanna Davison you can always spot a celeb.

3. The once-in-a-lifetime moments

Electric Picnic creates the most unique experiences whether it’s watching the legendary Pet Shop Boys or trying laughing yoga.

At Goss.ie HQ we have to admit our favourite moment of 2014 was seeing Bonnie Tyler perform and we think it was Laura Whitmore’s too.

Singing to a humongous crown on an impossibly small stage, the Powerhouse singer sang Total Eclipse of the Heart with the Irish ladies rugby team before a power cut stifled her attempts after several minutes.

If it wasn’t for EP we wouldn’t have these wonderfully weird and surreal musical moments.

Laura isn’t reporting for MTV News this year, but we still expect to see her there hanging with the VIPs and showing off her festival style.

4. The Romance

Electric Picnic would give the Annual Matchmaking Festival in Lisdoonvarna a run for it’s money with all the couples that meet there.

With annual engagements, celebrity hook-ups and an inflatable wedding chapel, the festival acts as cupid for revellers amongst us.

What a story to tell the kids, ‘well me and your Mam met in a field in Laois’ it’s better than saying you met in Coppers in fairness…

5. The Style

Electric Picnic -Roz-and-Corina

Festival season should also be named fashion season, with stars like Kate Moss and Alexa Chung competing for festival chic all summer.

There is no denying that Electric Picnic makes gig go-ers bring their style A-game.

Whether it’s wearing an oversized native American headdress, neon boiler suit or standard denim cut-off shorts, EP allows you to be as outrageously or stylishly dressed as you want.

Irish style stars Amy Huberman, Laura Whitmore and Roz Purcell are always showing us how to get festival chic.

6. The Food

Electric Picnic Rosanna

Whether you want a falafel, noodles or sit-down three course meal, Electric Picnic has it all.

With it’s Theatre of Food area, festival revellers can enjoy tantalising treats and three course meals by celebrity chefs Derry Clarke or Rachel Allen.

Around the site there is a food revolution with all that’s on offer, sure it wouldn’t be EP if you didn’t have burger in your hand as you raved the night way.

Although if you’re perfect like Rosanna Davison you’ll stick to a healthy juice.

7. The Camping

Electric Picnic Kian Egan

Camping is all part and parcel of the festival experience – it’s where you have your sing-a-long during the small hours of the morning and where all the fun is really.

There’s so many ways to camp whether you glamp, pitch a tent or bring a carvan.

While the grounds of Thomas Cosby’s Stradbally Hall teems with celebrities, most of them don’t slum it like the rest of us and we think they’re missing out – apart from Kian Egan that is.

But last year Transformers star Jack Reynor was spotted setting up a tent with fiance Madeline Mulqueen.

8. The other stages

Acts at Electric Picnic 2011 Festival: Day 2

Gourmet food, great music and comedy – there are so many fantastic areas around the main stage that pull you away from that act you were so desperate to catch.

Trailerpark, Mindfield, Trenchtown and Body and Soul are just some of the other wonderful areas to explore during the weekend.

If you’re wanting to try your hand at painting, listen to some poetry or ride on a giant ferris wheel, you can do it all in Stradbally.

If you’re as excited for Electric Picnic as Goss.ie then get your tickets HERE.
