“I’m not quite better but I’m on the mend… I was fortunate enough that my cancer was diagnosed early.”

Bobby explained that his daughter “badgered” him to go to the doctor, and then a lump was found on his neck.

“I didn’t know what to say. I’m only one of 135,000 that hear that every year. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough, I rang my wife Mary and I couldn’t speak,” he said.

The owner of coffee chain Insomnia added that he received “35 radiation sessions and chemotherapy once a week” and was admitted to hospital for three weeks.

“The whole radiation really knocked the socks off me,” he admitted in the emotional interview.

“But I’m a very positive person .I didn’t go to the dark place. I kept saying ‘I’m going to beat this’, there was no other way to go…There was no point in me dwelling in the negative.

“It’s been a bit of a journey but I’m back and I’m ready for action,” he added.
