Ardal O'Hanlon opens up on receiving death threat while starring in Father Ted

Comedian Ardal O’Hanlon has opened up about getting a death threat from a stalker in the West of Ireland.

The 50-year-old comic was starring as Fr Dougal McGuire in iconic comedy series Father Ted when he received the letter to his London home.

“I remember it was along the lines of, ‘you’ve gone over to England and you’ve taken the Queen’s shilling. You’re a disgrace to the country and if I ever see, I’ll kill you’,” he said.

“I showed the postmark to someone and they said, ‘I think that’s from a little place in the West of Ireland’.”

However a friend of Ardal’s, who took holidays in the remote village, said to him it could only have been one person.

“The only person it could be is this old ranter and raver in the pub who gives out about people on the telly,” he told the Sun.

“So, being a stalker in Ireland is a rubbish occupation.”
