Angelina Jolie Pitt has teamed up with Kilkenny based production company Cartoon Saloon on an animation feature.
The Breadwinner will have Angelina as an executive producer alongside the Irish animation team with Nora Twomey producing it.
The story is of a young girl Parvana living in Afghanistan who disguises herself as a boy so she can work to earn money for her family.

The wife of Brad Pitt has funded a girls school in Afghanistan and her children have read the book making the project very close to her heart.
Cartoon Saloon, who received an Oscar nomination last year for The Secret of Kells, will be working alongside Canadian company Aircraft Pictures and Melusine Productions of Luxembourg on the project.
The Breadwinner was written by Deborah Ellis and Cartoon Saloon have already begun work on it and it is due for release in early 2017.
