Andrew Scott on Sam Smith's James Bond theme song: 'It took a few listens'

Andrew Scott has admitted he had to listen to Sam Smith’s theme tune for Spectre several times before he got really into it.

The Dublin actor, who will star in the James Bond flick, revealed he initially wasn’t keen on the Grammy winner’s track Writing’s On The Wall.

“It took a few listens, but now I’m really into it. It’s a more subtle Bond theme and all the more interesting for it,” he said.

On hearing he got the role of Max Denbigh in the highly anticipated flick, the Sherlock star admitted he danced around the room in happiness.

“A couple of days later I got a call offering me the role. I did dance around a bit, I can’t lie. No. I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone for a while – just like all the things I do,” he told Heat magazine.

“I had to wait for the announcement event at Pinewood with the cast. I knew right from the start that it was a big number I had to keep secret.”

Opening up about filming, the Stag actor revealed he was intimidated walking on to set – knowing he was now a part of Bond history.

“It was quite scary. I’ve been doing this stuff for a few years, but this was different,” he admitted.

“We shot on the set of the MI5 offices and I felt like I was stepping into Bond history. It was fairly intimidating to look around and think, ‘Wow, I’m in this rather than just watching.'”
