Andrew Scott admits: 'Aidan Turner would be a great Bond'

Andrew Scott has admitted that he thinks Aidan Turner would be a great Bond.

The 39-year-old, who starred in the most recent James Bond instalment, backed the Poldark star to take over Daniel Craig’s role – although he has no idea when that may be.

“I am sure Aidan would be good at it. Absolutely,” he told the Herald.

“He would be great, he is a great actor. I do not know if it is definite that Daniel has left. Who knows when that will be.”

In recent months, rumours have been rife that Daniel Craig may leave the popular franchise after he told Time Out, “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists,” when asked about reprising his role as James Bond.

Since then, a host of famous actors have been named as potential replacements for Daniel Craig, with the likes of Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and Idris Elba joining Aidan on the list.

It was reported back in March that Aidan had flown to Los Angeles to meet with Bond producers to discuss taking over the 007 role.

“Aidan has held preliminary talks with Bond producers.

“Being in LA will give him a further chance to discuss the role,” said a source.

The news comes after Aidan Turner revealed that he never auditioned for his role in Poldark.
