A 90's party, Hocus Pocus and more: Here's our things to do this October

We’re finally into the month of October, we’ve said goodbye to the start of school, college and the summer and hello to Autumn leaves and a change in the weather. And with the run up to Halloween and a new month kicking off, there’s lots of fun events happening this month. Here at Goss HQ, we’ve found some fright-fest attractions to spice up your October with some scare-free attractions too.

We’re sure the party will play some Spice Girls anthem of the 90’s. There’ll be drink promotions as well as free finger food tonight, if you arrive early. If you have plans already tonight, then no need to worry as the event will be held every first Friday of the month (we’re getting our pig tails ready). Check out the Facebook event here. 

A View From The Bridge at The Gate Theatre

Take a trip to Dublin’s theatre scene for A View From a Bridge in The Gate Theatre. The play tells the story of Eddie Carbone who shelters his wife’s cousins in 1950’s Brooklyn. A View From a Bridge by Arthur Miller will be showing every night until the 31st of October in The Gate Theatre, Dublin. The play will show a dramatic style change to Fran the Man AKA Peter Coonan whose better known for his performance in Love/Hate. To get tickets check out The Gate Theatre website.

One Direction at the Three Arena

One Direction: The 1D boys will be hitting Dublin

If you’re lucky enough to have nabbed some gold-dust One Direction tickets, you’ll likely be going to their concert. Their Dublin concerts will be taking place over the 16th-18th October in the 3Arena. The group will be staying in the city for the weekend before they take their hiatus next year. Hang around the city over the weekend to hopefully catch a glimpse of the handsome four-piece.

Vodafone Comedy Festival

Take a trip down to Galway for plenty of laughs at Vodafone’s Comedy Carnival. A stream of Irish comedians will take the stage at the festival including Al Porter, Deirdre O’Kane and PJ Gallagher. The line-up includes Patrick Kielty who recently announced that he’s expecting his first child with wife Cat Deeley. The festival will be bringing some over-seas talent with hilarious ventriloquist Nina Conti. The comedy carnival will be running from 20th until 26th of October. For more information click here.

Screening: Double, double, toil and trouble| HOCUS POCUS

To get yourself in Halloween mood head down to Sugar Club for a screening of Hocus Pocus. Mean Screen will be bringing The Sanderson sisters back for one night only on the 20th of October. The night promises potions, candy and make-and-do stand so you can dress up as your favorite witch. Check out the Facebook event here.

Prepare yourself for a night of star-packed glamour at the Irish Film and Television Awards. The annual IFTA’S will be held on the 22nd of October. A chance to see some of Ireland’s well-known celebs in glamorous attire, what more could you want. If you didn’t bag a ticket to the showbiz event, the awards will be shown on TV3.

 Frightfest: Haunted Spooktacular Horror Farm | SPOOKTACULAR

Get in the Halloween spirit and visit Haunted Spooktacular Horror Farm in Meath for the perfect Halloween scare. This event is not for the faint-hearted expect asylums, clowns, massacres and much more. Ireland’s most extreme scare attraction runs from 23rd of October until the 31st. Halloween: Watch a Horror movie in style | UNDERGROUND

If you’re a horror movie fanatic, try something new on Halloween night and venture to a drive-in movie. The drive-in movie screening will be held by underground cinema in Roundwood. For Halloween the drive-in cinema will be showing The Exorcism on Saturday 31st October at 9pm. For more information click here.
