Poldark bosses admit they worried if Aidan Turner was 'attractive' enough for role

Poldark bosses have admitted they worried that Aidan Turner wouldn’t be a hit with the ladies when they cast him.

Show composer Anne Dudley revealed she had to reassure Damien Timmer, managing director of Mammoth Screen which produces the BBC series, he was the right choice to play Ross Poldark.

“It is true – Damien did ask me, ‘Do you think women will find Aidan attractive?’ I said, ‘I don’t think you will have a problem’,” she told the Sunday Mirror.

Heartthrob: Poldark bosses feared Aidan wouldn’t be a hit with the ladies | BBC

The production didn’t have anything to fear in the end as the first series drew an average of 7.6 million viewers across eight episodes and turned the Dubliner into a heartthrob over night.

Production on the second series has recently wrapped and is set to air in the autumn.

The news comes after show bosses admitted Aidan won’t be taking his kit off in the next instalment of the popular series.
