Irish Harry Potter star is being sued by former agent

Irish Harry Potter star Devon Murray is reportedly being sued by his former agent.

The 27-year-old is being sued by Neil Brooks,  trading as Neil Brooks Management, Cape Town, Sout Africa for €286,000 in commission fees.

The actor portrayed Irish Hogwarts student Seamus Finnegan in the blockbuster franchise opposite Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

Devon’s parents,  Michael and Fidelma Murray are also said to be being sued as their son was a minor when he entered the contract with Neil Brooks Management in 1998.

According to the Irish Times, the Murrays have filed a counter-claim seeking the return of arround €98,000 they say they paid Neil.

In his action, the agent said he was appointed to represent Devon in October 1998 under an agreement where he was entitled to 12.5 per cent for the actor’s film and TV earning, 15 per cent from TV commercials and seven per cent from theatre work.

In January 2003, Neil reportedly said that the couple agreed to pay him 15 per cent of Devon’s earnings and 20 per cent of all Hharry Potter residual earnings after successful negotiations to increase the actor’s salary for the third and fourth films.

However, it is claimed in breach of the agreement, the Murrays have failed the make payments to their son’s former agent.

As of March of 2016, the money owed to Neil is said to be €286,375.

In the defense filed by their former solicitor’s, Devon’s parents say the increase in payment to Neil was agreed upon in January of 2003 but it is claimed that the increase negotiated with Warner Brothers was done independently without Neil.
