Dublin’s alternative rock station TXFM is closing down.
The station has decided not to renew their licence after failing to make a profit.
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland confirmed in a statement they never received an application for a licence from TXFM which was advertised on December 21 2015.
The station will come off the air in October at the latest.
Closing: TXFM has not renewed their licence
TXFM was previously known as Phantom 105.2 before rebranding in 2014.
The closure of the station will make six full-time employees redundant.
According to The Journal, the stations shareholders, Â Evergreen Ventures, Gaiety Investments and Communicorp Group are expected to discuss the situation with the BAI before informing staff of the details.
