Ian Dempsey has admitted he’s “thankful” his salary is a secret between him and his employer after the earnings of RTE’s top sars were revealed.
The national broadcaster’s top talent had their salaries released recently with Ryan Tubridy coming out on top with earnings of €495,000 while Joe Duffy came in second with €416,893.
Ian, who previously worked for RTE, now presents on Today FM and was relieved his earnings will never be made public knowledge.

“Obviously I’m not going to reveal that because I work in the commercial and independent sector,” he told The Irish Daily Star.
“So it doesn’t become public. It must be a bit strange for the people whose salary does become public, but thankfully for me it’s a secret between myself and my employer.”
“It’s an open market out there and people have to negotiate and you can’t blame the guys out there taking the best deal they can get.”
Many hit out at the high pay day received by  RTE’s top stars, however the broadcaster defended themselves by pointing out they’ve cut the earnings of their top 10 presenters by 40% over six years.
