The Kerry native is up for Best Actor at this year’s Jameson Empire Awards for his performances in critically acclaimed flicks Macbeth and Steve Jobs.
The actor is one of five who have been shortlisted for the coveted award along with Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Michael B. Jordan and Tom Hardy.

Meanwhile, despite her run of award nominations for Brooklyn, Saoirse Ronan failed to make the shortlist for Best Actress at the Empire Awards.
It comes after Michael’s co-star Kate Winslet admitted she hopes Leonardo wins the Oscar for Best Actor this year.
