Legendary screen actress Helen Mirren is backing Saoirse Ronan to win the Oscar for Best Actress.
The 21-year-old recently lost out on the Golden Globe against Room star Brie Larson but Helen is hoping the Carlow actress will take home the gold at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
“Just give her the Oscar already,” Helen said.

“Because oh my word, Saoirse was absolutely astounding in that film,” she told Woman’s Way.
“She’s outstanding in whatever she does. I’m a big fan.
“It’s incredible to have that much power and vulnerability and wisdom at her age, so, so young. It’s really remarkable,” she added.
Fan: Helen hopes to work with Saoirse one day
The 70-year-old actress also revealed that she hopes she will get to work with the Hollywood starlet one day.
“I certainly hope that our paths cross professionally some day,” she said.
Helen’s backing comes shortly after Saoirse featured on Vanity Fair’s recent Oscars cover where she was named as one of Hollywood’s Fiercest Women.
