Liam Neeson set for RTE One's 1916 documentary

Liam Neeson is set to narrate RTE’s upcoming three-part 1916 documentary.

The acclaimed actor has always been in high demand for his voice over skills and will narrate the series set to air on February 10, 17 and 24 at 9:35pm.

The documentary explores the 1916 Easter Rising and the subsequent events that led to the establishment of an independent Irish state.

As well as its prime time slot on RTE One, the series will also air in the US with over 120 stations of broadcaster PBS having picked up the show.

“This kind of response to a historical documentary is unprecedented and shows the interest in Irish history in America today,” Dan Soles from WTTW in Chicago said of the doc.

Meanwhile, Head of Television at COCO Television, Linda Cullen expressed her joy at the show being brought to the US.

“To have so many American public service television stations, along with RTE and many others, commit to airing this documentary is a testament to the work and commitment that has been shown by so many.”

“We are privileged to have played our part in getting it made,” she said.

1916 has also been acquired by and will air on television networks across the UK, Asia, Europe, Latin America and Australia.
