Michael Fassbender on Oscar nomination: 'I feel very privileged'

Michael Fassbender has admitted he feels “very lucky” to land a second Oscar nomination.

The actor, who has been recognised for best actor for his portrayal as of the late Apple founder Steve Jobs, insisted he was feeling “privileged” about the Academy nod.

“I just feel very lucky, very privileged. It’s been such a great year for cinema, even films that haven’t been nominated,” he said.

“I don’t think it ever changes. The first time, again, I was very humbled by the consideration.

“It’s the same this time, especially considering the company that I’m in and the performances that haven’t been considered,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

“It’s always very exciting… Well, not always, just the twice.”

Although excited about his nomination, the 38-year-old admitted he was disappointment that the film’s screenwriter Aaron Sorkin was snubbed by the Academy.

However, Aaron’s disappointment has made Michael grateful for his recognition in the flick.

“It’s baffling, but that’s why I was saying that I feel privileged,” he added.

“You can never take these things for granted. I’m just baffled by that.”
