Nicky Byrne on track to kick-start solo career

As rumours swirl about former Westlife star Nicky Byrne representing Ireland in the Eurovision – he is reported to now want to kick-start his solo career.

According to the Sunday World, sources have said the radio host is hoping that being the Irish entry at the music competition will give him the platform he needs to get signed.

“There us a little bit of ego at play here,” a source said.

“Even though he has carved a decent career as an award-winning DJ on 2FM, he still knows deep down that he is the only member of Westlife to never release a solo album.

“He wants to right that wrong with an album of his own and he is keen to sign to a British record label as opposed to an Irish one,” the insider added.

However, it is yet to be confirmed that the 37-year-old will represent Ireland in the famed music contest.

Although his former bandmate Kian Egan has given him his vote of confidence for the possible entry.
