A Sky News report has claimed that Saoirse Ronan is British.
As the presenter was reading out the list of the 2016 BAFTA nominees, he seemed to confuse being Irish and British as he read out the Brooklyn star’s name.
“If we look at the leading actress category, I think we can take Saoirse Ronan as one of ours. She’s in Brooklyn, she’s nominated,” he said.

This isn’t the first time such a travesty has happened with Brits regularly confusing Irish actors as being from the UK.
The London Critics’ Circle was forced  to change their film nominations in December after Saoirse, Michael Fassbender and Colin Farrell were all referred to as British.
Social media quickly erupted after the mishap.
Get your own Saoirse Ronan…stop trying to take ours! ????? https://t.co/InE6LFPacQ

It comes only days after Saoirse made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show where she taught American audiences how to pronounce her very Irish name.
