A lot happened in 2024, especially in the world of showbiz…
From Liam Payne’s shock death to Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury’s devastating split, celebrities dominated the headlines once again this year – whether the news was good, bad, or downright ugly.
Check out a list of the biggest stories we covered on the site over the past 12 months:
Bennifer split – again

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, dubbed ‘Bennifer’ by fans, sadly split for the second time in 2024.
Following months of split speculation, the singer filed for divorce from her actor husband on August 20th – exactly two years after their lavish second wedding in Georgia.
Jennifer, 55, and Ben, 52, first sparked split speculation earlier this year when they both attended major events without one another.

In May, the songstress attended the 2024 Met Gala, where she stunned in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown, without Ben – despite being one of the co-chairs for the event.
It was later reported that the couple were “living apart” amid speculation surrounding their marriage.
Eagle-eyed fans also spotted Jennifer liking a March 19th Instagram post about healthy relationships, which partly read: “You can’t build a relationship with someone who is disconnected from themselves.”
Sending the rumour mill into overdrive, Jennifer canceled her greatest hits tour, This Is Me…Live, over the summer.

The announcement came a month before the highly-anticipated 30-city tour was scheduled to begin – set to be her first in 5 years.
In a statement from Live Nation, representatives said: “Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family, and close friends.”
The singer expressed in a newsletter to her fans: “I am completely heartsick and devestated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.”
“I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much, until next time,” she ended the statement.

Jennifer and Ben, famously dubbed Bennifer, got back together in May 2021 – 17 years after they called off their engagement.
The pair tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, before they hosted a bigger celebration later that year at Ben’s home in Georgia.
The former couple both have children from previous marriages.
Ben shares three kids with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner – Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
Meanwhile, Jennifer is mum to 16-year-old twins Max and Emme, whom she had with her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
The ‘It Ends With Us’ controversy
The drama surrounding the cast of It Ends With Us this year gave Don’t Worry Darling a run for its money.
It Ends With Us, based on the best-selling book by Colleen Hoover, premiered in cinemas on August 9.
The premiere brought about speculation regarding the behind-the-scenes dynamic of its cast members, specifically the lead actors Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively.
Fans pointed out that Justin, who starred in and directed the film, didn’t join fellow cast members Blake, Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, and Isabela Ferrer for much of the press tour.
Blake, who stars as protagonist Lily Bloom and is one of the film’s producers, posed for photos alongside Brandon, Jenny and Isabela at the film’s premiere, but Justin, 40, only appeared in photos with his wife Emily Baldoni, and his personal guests.
Justin also shut down the prospect of directing the film’s potential sequel, which would be an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s It Starts With Us, during a red carpet interview.
“I think there are better people for that one,” he told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere. “I think Blake is ready to direct, that’s what I think.”
At the premiere, Justin also did not introduce the film to the audience with Blake and Colleen.
Some social media sleuthing subsequently proved that the cast and Colleen did not follow Justin on social media, while he remained following them.
While the apparent feud between the cast remained a mystery for months, it all came to light in December when Blake filed a bombshell lawsuit against Justin for sexual harassment, claiming he caused her “severe emotional distress.”
The 37-year-old also alleged that out of fear of the allegations coming out, Justin engaged in a “social manipulation” campaign to “destroy” her reputation.

The actor and director has denied her allegations, however he has notably been dropped from his talent agency WME.
A host of famous faces have also spoken out in support of Blake, including Colleen Hoover and her co-star Brandon Sklenar.
In a statement to The New York Times regarding her lawsuit, Blake said: “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted.”

The downfall of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

In 2024 we saw the downfall of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
The rapper was arrested on September 16th and charged with racketeering, sex trafficking by force, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
A number of sexual assault allegations have been made against the 54-year-old since his arrest in several different lawsuits.

In November, Diddy was denied bail as he awaits his trial, with US District Judge Arun Subramanian citing evidence the rapper is at high risk of “witness tampering.”
The judge also claimed the 54-year-old had violated regulations in jail.
The rapper is charged with federal criminal offences related to a conspiracy involving suspected sex trafficking and racketeering.
He has entered a not-guilty plea to those accusations.

In court documents, the musician is accused of “creating a criminal enterprise” whose members allegedly engaged in sex trafficking, forced labour, kidnapping, arson and bribery.
It has also been claimed that he “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct”.
Court documents have alleged the music mogul “wielded the power” of his status to “lure female victims… to engage in extended sex acts” called “Freak Offs”.
“During Freak Offs, Combs distributed a variety of controlled substances to victims, in part to keep the victims obedient and compliant,” the indictment said.

Back in March, three of the rapper’s properties were searched in connection to a sex trafficking investigation following a string of allegations dating back to the 90s.
According to US prosecutor Damian Williams, officials found firearms, ammunition and more than 1,000 bottles of lubricant during these raids.
Diddy’s defence team have repeatedly claimed that their client is innocent.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, told reporters outside court: “We believe in him wholeheartedly. He didn’t do these things. There’s no coercion and no crime. He’s not afraid of the charges.”
Last November, Diddy was also accused of alleged rape and physical abuse by his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a lawsuit.
The rapper vehemently denied the allegations, and one day later the pair confirmed that they had settled the lawsuit.
Liam Payne’s shock death
The world was shocked by the tragic death of Liam Payne in October 2024.
The former One Direction star died on October 16th at the age of 31, after falling from a third-story hotel balcony in Argentina.
His death was attributed to polytrauma and both internal and external hemorrhaging, with alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant also found in his system.
The authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his passing, but three people have been charged in connection with his death.

One individual has been charged with abandonment of a person followed by death, and two others have been charged with the supply and facilitation of narcotics.
TMZ has since obtained court documents detailing how Liam spent his final hours under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The night before his death, Liam ordered four bottles of whiskey.

At around 6.30am the next day, the day the 31-year-old died, he ordered another five bottles.
Text messages cited in the documents reveal that Liam contacted a friend around 7am reportedly saying, “Dude, I think I’m going to f**k a hooker.”
Two hours later, he sent another message asking, “Can you get 6 grams?”
The friend later joined Liam for breakfast at the hotel, where he drank whiskey. When the singer returned to his room, he began searching for something a maid described to police as “powder”.

By 11.30am, the court documents claim two sex workers arrived at Liam’s room, who later told investigators that he asked if they had cocaine because he had run out.
They also alleged he became upset when they requested payment.
Later that afternoon, at approximately 2pm, Payne texted a hotel employee, stating, “I’m gonna need another 7 grams for today.”
Witnesses reported that by 4pm, Liam appeared visibly intoxicated in the hotel lobby, with dilated pupils.

In security footage obtained by TMZ, Liam can be seen being carried to his room by employees of the hotel.
In other footage, the One Direction star can be seen struggling with the employees, not wanting to go back inside his hotel room.
However, a master key was used to enter the room and Liam was put inside.
According to a 911 transcript, a hotel employee called the emergency services and said, “I don’t know whether his life may be in danger. He is in a room with a balcony, and, well, we’re a little afraid …”

A short time later, Liam’s body was discovered in the hotel’s courtyard, after falling from his third-floor balcony.
According to reports, investigators believe Liam was trying to move from his third-floor balcony to the second-floor balcony in an attempt to escape.
Two days after his death, a hotel worker found a brown leather bag on the second-floor balcony containing pills and a bottle of whiskey with “for Liam” written on it.
According to TMZ, Liam dropped down the bag before attempting to make his own way down – but instead tragically fell to his death.

The One Direction singer was laid to rest following a private service in Buckinghamshire in November, which was attended by his family and closest friends, including a host of famous faces.
Liam’s former bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik reunited for the service, which was their first public meeting in almost ten years.
Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy was also pictured arriving at the church alongside Damien Hurley, the son of actress Elizabeth Hurley.
Meanwhile, members of Girls Aloud attended the funeral to support their bandmate Cheryl – Liam’s ex-partner, with whom he shared a son named Bear.
Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury’s shock split

Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury’s split was arguably the biggest celebrity breakup of 2024 (for us anyway).
The couple met on Love Island in 2019, and welcomed a daughter named Bambi together in January 2023.
Molly-Mae and Tommy got engaged in Ibiza last summer and were set to wed in 2025, but in August the influencer shocked fans by announcing the end of their relationship in a very cryptic statement.
She wrote: “Never in a million years did I think I’d ever have to write this. After five years of being together, I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way.”

“I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end.”
“I will forever be grateful for the most important thing to me now and always, my beautiful daughter. Without us there would be no her, she will always be my priority.”
“I want to thank you all for the love you have shown us over the last five years. You have all been a part of our journey and I feel it’s right to share this with you all.”
“Whilst I attempt to navigate the coming days and weeks, please kindly respect my privacy over this difficult time.”

The boxer was subsequently accused of being unfaithful to Molly, which he has adamantly denied in various interviews, and even in a new chapter of his memoir.
Tommy previously spoke out about the cheating allegations in an interview with MailOnline and confessed: “All the allegations that were made of me recently are completely false.”
“The truth will come out in time and when it does I think a lot of people might regret their actions and unkind words.”
“Everybody could think what they want about me and say what they want about me. As long as my family think I’m a good man and Jesus Christ thinks I’m a good man, I don’t care what anybody else has to say.”

During an interview with British Vogue in November, Molly-Mae admitted their split was a “really deep situation”.
“No one will ever really know what went down apart from Tommy and I, and that’s how we’d like to keep it, for Bambi’s sake,” she said.
“I do think that he will talk about things eventually. I do think that when he’s ready, like, maybe more will be said. But I think that’s for him to do on his terms.”

Molly-Mae acknowledged that the breakup had been a “shock” to her and that she had been looking forward to their wedding.
The mother-of-one is now set to open up about the fallout of their split in her upcoming documentary series.
The “all-access” series will premiere on Prime Video in January.
Taylor Swift/Coldplay fever in Dublin
2024 was the year Taylor Swift and Coldplay took over Dublin city.
Taylor brought her record-breaking Eras Tour to Ireland at the start of July, performing in front of 150,000 fans across three days.
As she kicked off her final gig on the Sunday, Taylor told Swifties that they had made history by becoming the first-ever tour to sell out the Aviva Stadium three nights in a row.
Taking to Instagram after her shows, the songstress thanked everyone for making her “feel so at home.”
She wrote: “I knew as soon as I saw the first Dublin crowd on Friday night that we were in for a wild weekend…”
“The spirit of those 3 glorious crowds embodied fun and joy and exuberance, and we just felt so lucky to be there.”
“The Irish fans made us feel so at home, so welcome in every way. Still smiling thinking about it now. 🇮🇪”
The pop singer’s NFL star boyfriend Travis Kelce surprised her by showing up to the concert unexpectedly on Sunday night, where he joined a host of famous faces in the VIP tent.
The concert was a star-studded occasion, as attendees included Hollywood actress Julia Roberts, Fleetwood Mac icon Stevie Nicks, and social media star Logan Paul with his pregnant fiancée Nina Agdal.
Following the gig, Taylor and Travis were filmed leaving the stadium arm-in-arm as fans cheered for the happy couple.
The pair then enjoyed a secret afterparty at the speakeasy bar, Hacienda, which is located on Little Mary Street in Dublin’s Smithfield.
They were joined by Taylor’s crew, as well as Stevie Nicks and her supporting act Paramore.

The following month, Coldplay brought their Music of the Spheres world tour to Dublin’s Croke Park for four nights from Thursday, August 29 to Monday, 2 September.
It was the band’s first time performing in Ireland since 2017, and tickets to the gigs were like gold dust.
After their four night run in Croke Park, Chris Martin and co. wrote on social media: “Dublin – it’s hard to find the words. Those were four extra special nights that we’ll never forget.”
“Thank you Croker, thank you GAA, thank you Dublin!! 💚🤍🧡”

They shared another message on the X with a pic of Chris sitting on the ground in the middle of Grafton Street.
The wrote: “Thankyou so much everyone who welcomed us in Dublin, it was so fun.”
Ahead of their sold-out concerts, Coldplay surprised hundreds of Irish fans on Dublin’s Grafton Street, after rumours started circulating about an impromptu performance.
The band’s frontman Chris Martin then showed up with Burna Boy, Little Simz, Elyanna and Tini for a street performance of their new song We Pray, which they filmed for the song’s official music video.
Rebel Wilson vs. Sacha Baron Cohen
Back in March, Rebel Wilson publicly named Sacha Baron Cohen as the celebrity she branded an “a**hole” in her memoir Rebel Rising, and said working with him was the “worst experience of her career.”
The pair worked together on the 2016 comedy Grimsby, in which she played the role of Dawn – who was his character Nobby’s wife.
In the explosive memoir, Rebel claimed that the actor asked her to strip naked for a scene, despite her “no nudity” rule.
During an interview with The Sunday Times to promote the book, the 44-year-old claimed she felt “disrespected” on set, and said: “It’s one thing for someone who is fat to exploit their size for comedy, but it’s another for somebody else to humiliate you.”

The actress also said she felt like her costumes were chosen to “see all the cellulite on my thighs and a top to show the fattest part of my arm”, leaving her feeling “like I was something to be laughed at and degraded because of my size”.
“I’m sharing my story now because the more women talk about things like this, hopefully, the less it happens. And hopefully, fewer women have to work harder just to respect themselves,” she said.
In a statement released when the allegations first came to light, Sacha’s rep said: “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”
A week after the claims were made public, Sacha’s actress wife Isla Fisher announced their separation, after 13 years of marriage.
While the actor has strenuously denied Rebel’s claims against him, the timing of their split announcement raised a lot of eyebrows.
An insider previously told The Sun: “You do have to wonder whether Wilson’s memoir and the timing of the couple’s split announcement are more than a coincidence.”
“Despite being determined to keep their break-up secret for months, suddenly Sacha’s reputation is being questioned and Isla is well known as a strong supporter of women’s rights. So you do have to wonder.”
They continued: “Sacha and Isla have always presented themselves as a kooky kind of brand. Indeed, few people originally expected them to get together, or stay together.”
“Isla is just lovely. She has a reputation as a lovely, fun-loving woman. For Sacha, she’s been the perfect antidote to his reputation of a sometimes acid-tongued comedian.”
“It’s fair to say that he needed her for his career more than she needed him.”
According to another report, Isla and Sacha also disagreed over their living arrangements – as Sacha was keen to relocate to his native UK, while Isla wanted to remain in Perth or Los Angeles.
The ‘Glicked’ hype
In 2024, the simultaneous release of Wicked and Gladiator II created a cultural phenomenon dubbed “Glicked,” reminiscent of the 2023 “Barbenheimer” trend.
Both films, though differing in genre—Wicked being a musical adaptation and Gladiator II a historical epic—captivated audiences worldwide.
Wicked, which starred Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as lead characters Elphaba and Glinda, was by the far the biggest movie release of the year, grossing over $524.9 million globally by mid-December.

It set records as the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical in the U.S. and the top-grossing film based on the Land of Oz.
Its opening weekend garnered $117 million domestically, marking the largest debut for a stage musical adaptation.
Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II, which starred our very own Paul Mescal as the lead character, also made waves at the box office, earning $145.9 million domestically and $398.5 million worldwide by mid-December.
Its opening weekend saw a $60 million domestic debut, an impressive result for the sequel to the 2000 classic.

Wicked received the most praise for its faithful adaptation of the beloved musical, with standout performances by Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda.
Director Jon M. Chu’s vision was lauded for bringing the fantastical world to life, and the film has already been tipped for Oscar glory, after receiving multiple Golden Globe nominations.
Earlier this month, Ariana Grande and Paul Mescal sat down for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, in which they opened up about the success of both films – and joked about the ‘Glicked’ phenomenon.

The Menendez brothers
While true crime fans may have been following the case of the Menendez brothers for years, their story was thrust into the spotlight in 2024.
In 1996, Lyle and Erik Menendez were convicted of the murders of their parents in what became one of the most famous criminal cases of the late 20th century.
Their case garnered renewed interest in September, as Netflix released a true-crime series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, from showrunner Ryan Murphy.
The series starred Nicholas Chavez and Cooper Koch as Lyle and Erik, and became one of the most viral shows on the platform.
The drama was followed by a new documentary, in which both brothers revisited the trial for the first time in over 30 years – in their own words.
Lyle and Erik Menendez, aged 21 and 18 respectively, shot and killed their parents in their Beverly Hills mansion back in 1989.
In 1996, after two trials, they were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The brothers have long claimed their violent actions stemmed from a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents, José and Mary Louise ‘Kitty’ Menendez.
Following the renewed interest in their case this year, prison reform advocate Kim Kardashian visited them in prison, and subsequently urged prosecutors in the US to reconsider their life sentences.
In an op-ed for NBC News, the reality star insisted the brothers are not “monsters”.
In October, their case took another unexpected turn as the Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon recommended that the two be resentenced, substituting their life sentence with a 50-year-to-life term.
According to Mr. Gascon, since the brothers were younger than 26 at the time of the killings, they would be immediately eligible for parole.

“Under the law, resentencing is appropriate. I’m going to recommend that to a court tomorrow,” the district attorney told a news conference.
“I believe they have paid their debt to society.”
Prosecutors must now request court approval for the case, with the judge having the final decision.
Their attorneys contend that the brothers might not have been found guilty of first-degree murder and given a life sentence without the possibility of parole if the case had been tried today due to the shifting social perceptions around sexual abuse.

The recommendation came following bombshell evidence in the form of a letter that had been publically shared by a District Attorney.
A screenshot of Erik Menendez’s letter to his cousin Andy Cano, in which he makes references to severe and ongoing abuse at the hands of his father Jose, was made public on Instagram by Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón.
It reads: “I’ve been trying to avoid dad. It’s still happening Andy but it’s worse for me now. I can’t explain it. He’s so overweight that I just can’t stand to see him. I never know when it’s going to happen and it’s driving me crazy.”
George Gascón later deleted the post.

The letter, published in full by Fox News, further reads: “Every night I stay up thinking he might come in. I need to put it out of my mind. I know what you said before but I’m afraid. You just don’t know dad like I do. He’s crazy!”
“He’s warned me a hundred times about telling anyone. Especially Lyle. Am I a serious whimpus? I don’t know I’ll make it through this. I can handle it, Andy. I need to stop thinking about it.”
According to defence lawyer Cliff Gardner, the letter was written in December 1988, to the brother’s cousin, some months before Kitty and Jose were killed.
According to testimony from Andy Cano, who passed away in 2003, Erik told him about his father’s abuse when he was thirteen.

The letter, which his mother discovered nine years ago, was part of a 2023 petition to investigate if the brothers’ imprisonment was illegal.
A “new coalition” known as Justice for Erik and Lyle has been formed by several extended family members who have banded together to demand the brothers’ release.
Jose’s niece Anamaria Baralt spoke upon the announcement of the recommendation, saying: “Today is a day filled with hope for our family.”
“This step gives us all hope that the truth will finally be heard and Lyle and Erik can begin to heal from the trauma of their past.”
Another relative, believed to be a niece of Kitty, added: “This decision is not just a legal matter, it is a recognition of the abuse my cousins endured. We are grateful to the district attorney for putting justice over politics. We know this wasn’t an easy decision but it is right. It is time for Lyle and Erik to come home.”

Erik Menéndez’s daughter Talia has been vocally advocating for her father’s release and sharing case updates on her Instagram account.
She expressed her hope that the decision-makers will show compassion for the boys’ circumstances and emphasised the additional evidence that backs up their allegations of abuse in recent posts.
In a statement on Instagram, Talia wrote: “Within 60 days, we will hear back from the LA County District Attorney’s office regarding their decision for Erik and Lyle’s appeal for freedom filed in May last year.”
“As everyone knows, there was new evidence proving the abuse endured after decades of not being believed, and that evidence had been excluded from the retrial. I’m praying the DA/Judge has compassion not only for what my dad and uncle endured but also for the fact that all of our family wants them home.”
“Almost 35 years is enough time locked away; They have spent more time incarcerated than alive in the real world. Let that sink in. Set them free.”
Explaining the possible outcomes from the appeal, Talia wrote: “Option 1) Time serves & they would prepare for release. Option 2) 3-5 years more. Option 3) Immediately goes to the parole board > not a great option & case will become political. Option 4) No change. LWOP sentence still stands. Praying they get time served for 35 years and are released!”
The mass exits from RTÉ 2FM

Earlier this year, RTÉ 2FM was plunged into chaos as a number of top presenters walked away from their shows within a matter of weeks – including Doireann Garrihy, Jennifer Zamparelli, The 2 Johnnies, and Donncha O’Callaghan.
The timing of their departures raised a lot of eyebrows, as many questioned whether their exits were caused by the station’s new rules for talent.
Following the payments scandal last year, the broadcaster has introduced a number of strict rules for their talent – including a new Register of Gifts.
Employees and contractors with RTÉ are now required to declare gifts above a value of €50, and must declare any conflicts of interest.

All four of the stars who left have successful careers outside of their work at the station, and would have been affected by new rules governing RTÉ employees.
Despite this, 2FM boss Dan Healy denied they left because of the new rules during a fiery debate with Claire Byrne on RTÉ Radio 1 in May
While discussing the departures, Dan said: “It’s amazing that 2FM is on the front page of every newspaper this morning, it shows that 2FM matters to the audience.”
But Claire argued: “Not for the right reasons, people are asking if 2FM should be closed down.”

He responded, frustrated: “Of course it shouldn’t be closed down, why would it? Would you ask that question of BBC Radio One? No, you would not… To go from people leaving the station to closing it down is nuts.”
Dan was then asked about the rule change for RTÉ stars and if that was a factor in 2FM losing talent.
He responded: “We can work with people who are high-profile who bring huge audiences in.”
He argued that The 2 Johnnies “were never ours”, with them already having a following before they started working for the station.

“Those lads are on a stunning journey, but not ours. They came in and did a stunning job. But they’ll move on. Doireann Garrihy, also fantastic,” he admitted.
“The reality is it’s nuanced – it played a role to an extent but it’s not the reason.”
On finding replacements for the station’s top stars, the radio boss said: “We are going to be looking for expression of interest for presenters for 2FM.”
Claire said: “But you’re going to be saying to them if you come and work here you are subject to a salary cap, will have to seek permission for all external activities and tell me how much you are getting paid for those activities.”
“You will also have to sign a register of interest – it’s not a great sell, is it?”
Dan stated, “It’s not about RTE and politicians, it’s about the audience,” refusing to answer if the rule change has become an issue at the station.
“This is exciting. I’m sorry they’re gone – but it’s not about politicians and RTÉ, it’s about the audience and my job is to serve the audience,” he added.
In May, the broadcaster then invited members of the public to apply for presenting roles within the station via a post shared on their website.
In August, Mr Healy said they were still testing applicants, and its understood a new lineup of presenters will be announced in the New Year.
Barry Keoghan’s on-off romance with Sabrina Carpenter

Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter were our favourite celebrity couple to follow this year, despite the fact that its all ended in tears
The Irish actor was first linked to the American singer last December when they were papped out for dinner together in Los Angeles.
The Oscar-nominated actor and the Espresso hitmaker first met last September when they crossed paths at a Givenchy show during Paris Fashion Week.
Since then, they have been seen encouraging one another in various endeavours, with Barry frequently leaving cheeky remarks on Sabrina’s Instagram pictures.
This past April, the Saltburn star attended his then-girlfriend’s Coachella performance and even appeared in her music video for Please Please Please in June.
However, rumours began circulating that the pair had split in early August, eight months after they were first linked.
Taking to Instagram, the celebrity gossip account DeuxMoi shared a message which read: “Sabrina and Barry broke up.”
The Sun later reported that the pair had split weeks prior due to the Irish star’s alleged partying.
A source told the publication: “Barry acts like an idiot when he is drunk, and Sabrina was getting increasingly frustrated.”
“He has always been a party animal and Sabrina was fed up with his antics. She is soaring in the charts and is putting herself first as she gears up for her tour next month.”
Despite the split reports, the pair seemed to be back on as Barry appeared at a number of her Short n Sweet tour concerts, and gushed about her in interviews.
But in early December, PEOPLE magazine reported that the pair were “on a break” again.

Amid reports they had split again, Barry was inundated with nasty messages online – and he felt forced to speak out.
In a statement posted to X, Barry responded to his “name being dragged across the internet.”
He wrote: “‘I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond too.”
“I have to respond now because it’s gettin to a place where there are too many lines being crossed. I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work.
“The messages I have received no person should ever have to read them. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.”
“Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for. Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also,” he continued.
“Knocking on my grannies door. Sitting outside my baby boys house intimidating them. Thats crossing a line.”
“Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy. I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail and grow.”

“I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me and know I will have his back no matter what.”
“I need you to remember he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older. Please be respectful to all. Thank u x.”
Barry appeared to be referring to accusations circulating on social media, including rumours he allegedly cheated on Sabrina with TikTok star Breckie Hill.
However, the social media star has hit back at the rumours – denying she had any involvement with the actor and his split from Sabrina.

Rory McIlroy’s sudden split and reconciliation with his wife

Rory McIlroy’s marriage to Erica Stoll was a huge topic of conversation this year.
The Irish golfer shocked fans when he announced their split in May, after seven years of marriage.
The 35-year-old started dating Erica in 2014, months after he broke off his previous engagement to tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.

The couple tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony at Ashford Castle in 2017 and welcomed their daughter Poppy three years later.
According to the Irish Independent, the divorce papers were officially filed in Florida.
At the time, his manager Sean O’Flaherty said in a statement: “Rory McIlroy’s communications team confirmed today that a divorce has been filed. They stressed Rory’s desire to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible.”

The divorce filing, which described their marriage as “irretrievably broken”, requested shared custody of their daughter Poppy, and asked for a parenting plan to be established.
However, Rory’s attorney Thomas Sasser later filed a Notice of Voluntary Dismissal on his behalf.
In June, Rory addressed the speculation surrounding his relationship status in a statement to The Guardian.

“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate. Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game,” the golfer said.
“Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realized that our best future was as a family together.
“Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning.”
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s nasty separation

Another celebrity split that dominated headlines in 2024 was Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s nasty separation.
The ITV presenters, who previously hosted This Morning together, stunned fans in May by announcing their intention to file for divorce after 14 years of marriage, and 27 years together.
While the former couple are yet to confirm the cause of their split, it has been claimed that Ruth “found messages from another woman” on Eamonn’s laptop.

A source previously told The Sun: “Ruth was completely taken by surprise when she saw the messages.”
“She had no idea what had been going on between them. She was devastated.”
They added: “Not only was she very upset but she was also angry.”
Eamonn is now said to be in a relationship with a therapist named Katie, who is 22 years his junior, at 42.

It’s understood the former couple are hoping to settle their divorce in the New Year.
A source told The Sun earlier this month: “The aim is for Eamonn and Ruth to resolve their divorce as quickly as possible in the New Year.”
“Ruth is keen to stay in their marital home as it is where she is settled. Eamonn on the other hand wants to get out and make a fresh start.”
The insider continued: “They aren’t dragging their heels and want this settled and done as quickly as possible.”
Ruth and Eamonn, who announced their split in May, are parents to a son named Jack, 22.
The GB News presenter is also father to three children Declan, 35, Rebecca, 33, and Niall, 31, from a previous marriage.
