Flying High With Taking Flight Dublin

I have been searching for so long for a new hobby that could be a break from my job but also keep me fit – and I’ve finally found it.

I’ve signed up for gyms, gone for walks, tried to clear my head and keep my body going it lots of different ways by Aeriel and Acrobatics is my new favourite thing.

I have never done gymnastics but have always loved professional hip-hop dancing, so I hoped I would love this class as much as I hoped.

I found Taking Flight Dublin online and decided to try out their ‘Explorer Verticals’ class which is for beginners.

From watching Pink do her own acrobatics on silks throughout her tour to watching non-stop videos on Youtube of people practising on ropes, I hoped classes in Dublin’s Chocolate Factory would get me started.

I’ll be honest I was nervous as hell going to the first class – one thing you have to realise first and foremost is to get your body to do the things it will in this class you need to exercise before and stretch after.

The first 20 minutes of the class is pure exercise – from circuit training to work on your arms and legs.

But once that’s over it’s on to the silks and the ropes and while it is hard work it’s so worth it.

Four weeks in now I’m able to hold myself up on the ropes and silks (probably sounds easy), I’m finding myself more and more flexible and last week we learned how to climb (I never thought I could do that this fast).

Your arms will be killing you at the start, but once you start holding yourself up in the air and swinging around you’ll feel ultimate freedom.

A new term is starting next Monday August 29th, and I have already had so many people asking where to sign up on my Snapchat where I’ve been sharing photos and videos (alir23).
