In its annual report known as Year on TikTok, the short-form video app has highlighted the most popular trends of the year, including those that have received millions of views.
TikTok’s cultural influence continued to expand in 2024, igniting funny commercial campaigns and aesthetic movements that influenced people’s lifestyle choices.

Originally a spoken word performance by American artist Megan Boni, dubbed Girl on Couch, this trend swiftly gained popularity as the year’s most catchy song as the sound clip was used in a number of remixes.
“I’m looking for a man in finance, trust fund, 6’5, blue eyes,” the designer declares, mocking her desire to find her ideal partner.
When she posted the video in April, she captioned it, “Did I just write the song of the summer?” It has now racked up 58 million views.

After people adopted brat summer, which embodies self-love, positive body image, sexy style choices, and loads of neon green, singer Charli XCX drove TikTok into a tailspin this year.
The music star’s sixth studio album, which has a bright green cover, makes the term “brat” ubiquitous.
In response to the trend, Kelley Heyer of TikTok made a viral dance to Charli XCX’s song “Apple” from the Brat album, which had 16.3 million views.
