Q. I’m in my early 40’s and beginning to notice loose sagging skin on my lower face and under my chin. Is there any treatment I can do to lift my skin up?

As we age we begin to notice sagging and loose skin that’s all part of skin life’s natural progression. Sagging skin is mainly due to two age-related reasons: loss of collagen, which gives skin its elasticity, and loss of facial fat, the absence of which causes skin to droop.

The face can become less rounded and the jawline begins drooping, showing the first signs of jowls. It doesn’t help that the constant downward pull of gravity 24/7 also causes other parts of our face to sag but there are non-invasive treatments that can improve this common skin concern.

There are many options available from lasers to radiofrequency treatments that will give you a certain degree of tightening and lifting but to reach the foundation of your skin (at muscle level), the only treatment that can give you lifting and tightening is Ultherapy.

What is it?

With a huge celebrity following from Christie Brinkley, Jennifer Aniston to Kim Kardashian Ultherapy is an FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment uses safe, time-tested ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin naturally without surgery or downtime. Its also worth noting that Ultherapy is also the ONLY FDA-cleared, non-invasive procedure that lifts and tightens the neck, chin and brow, and improves lines and wrinkles on the chest.

How does it work?

Ultherapy stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin’s foundational layer typically addressed in cosmetic surgery – but without disrupting the skin’s surface. After treatment, the body’s tissue repair process stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, creating a natural lifting effect.

Ultherapy can treat a variety of areas with many clients opting to have treatment on full face and neck we can also treat smaller areas such as the lower face in one session at The Laser and Skin Clinic. For more information please see Ultherapy on our website which includes lots of information, before and after photos, FAQ’s and pricing.

I would also advise that you book in for full consultation at of our clinics in Dublin (Lower Baggot Street), Mullingar or Athlone Towncentre so we can discuss in more detail and advise you further.

If you would like to book in for a consultation I would be happy to discuss the different options with you upon examining your skin.
