Una Healy has opened up about getting over her divorce from Ben Foden.

The Irish singer split from the rugby player in 2018 after six years of marriage, amid claims he had been unfaithful.

Speaking on RTÉ’s Today show, the mum-of-two said people who are going through a divorce have reached out to her for advice on social media.

She explained: “I do have a quite a few people reaching out saying they’re going through the same situation and it’s so common these days unfortunately.”

“You walk down the aisle and say, ‘I do’, and hope it’s forever and that is the intention but some things aren’t meant to be forever and that’s just the way it is.”

“I always look at it that I have my two beautiful children so it was meant to be but it just wasn’t meant to be forever.”

Una continued: “There is a lot of pain involved in the shock of your new life and having to adapt to it but just always remember that you’re better off without the person that wasn’t meant for you.”

“Just know that you aren’t alone there’s so many other people in the same situation it is unfortunately quite common. Think as positive as much as you can and get busy.”

“Just think of you and love yourself and do everything for you and your family, if they have kids or not, just be kind to yourself.”

Following her split from Ben, Una dated former professional hurler David Breen for a year – but sadly their romance didn’t last.

Speaking about dating during the coronavirus pandemic, Una admitted it’s been “strange”.

She said: “It’s tough though because of this whole situation as well. So it’s hard to go on dates and stuff.

“I had a couple of skype ones. I actually had dinner over skype with someone.”

“It’s just so weird, that was during lockdown, we did that and then a couple of socially distance walks. It’s a strange time to be dating,” she added.
