Kim Kardashian shared photos from her 40th birthday trip to a private island on Tuesday, sparking a huge reaction on social media.
The reality star was harshly criticised for bragging about the trip amid the coronavirus pandemic, but some fans were distracted by the fact her husband Kanye West was absent from the photos.
TMZ has since reported that Kanye couldn’t be there for Kim’s actual birthday due to work commitments.
However, insiders have claimed he joined the group for the last few days of their trip.
According to the outlet, Kim invited 40 of her closest friends and family on the trip, and rented out a private island that hadn’t seen any COVID cases.
As Kim revealed in her social media posts, she also asked her guests to quarantine for two weeks before the trip, and to undergo “multiple health screens”.
Kanye missed Kim’s actual birthday amid rumours their marriage is on the rocks.
The couple’s marriage has hit headlines in recent months, after Kanye spoke about almost aborting their now 7-year-old daughter North at a presidential rally in South Carolina back in July.
A series of Twitter rants also landed the father-of-four in hot water, as he publicly slammed his wife Kim, and his mother-in-law Kris Jenner.
Kanye later apologised to his wife on Twitter, and the couple have since put on a united front on social media.
