The first contestant has been voted off I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here 2021

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips has become the first campmate to be voted off I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here 2021.

The 78-year-old, who was the oldest ever celeb to take part in the reality series, left Gwrych Castle in North Wales on Sunday night after receiving the fewest public votes.

Speaking on her exit, Arlene admitted she was “relieved.”

She said: “You know, I want to see my family, but (I’m) emotional because of everything this has been, the highs and the lows. It’s been something in my life that I never imagined doing and it’s been extraordinary.”

“I’d psyched myself up, I was so prepared for it… I’d focused on why I was doing this and what I want to achieve and get out of it you know for my granddaughter, to try to show I was fearless but it is hard.”

Arlene revealed she’s rooting for her pal Naughty Boy to win the show this year.

While Arlene is the first contestant to leave the camp by public vote, Richard Madeley also left the castle after a health scare.

The presenter was taken to hospital after falling ill during the first week of the show, and was unable to return after breaking the I’m A Celeb Covid bubble.

Arlene’s exit comes after the show finally returned to air following a number of security breaches and a storm that led to the campmates being evacuated from the camp for a few days.
